Counterstrike is perhaps the most popular game among the game lovers. It is a multiplayer shooter game. In this game, a group of terrorist tries to enter the territory by various methods which include bombing and hostage taking. The counter-terrorists try to fight this act of terrors by defusing the bombs and rescuing the hostage. Started in 1999, the game is even played now by millions of people. This objective-based game required the players to complete their objectives which include goals like planting or defusing a game and guarding and rescuing the hostage. After each round, on basis of the performance of the player, game-currency is awarded. This game-currency is then used by the player to buy more powerful weapons for the next round. A player can earn bonus by killing the enemy. However, killing their own teammate and other uncooperative actions draws penalty for the player.
Though Counterstrike initially originated for the Microsoft Windows platform, it is now available in MacOS, Linux, Play Station 3, Xbox and Xbox 360. The latest edition of the game was released in 2012, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This realistic action game requires team play. The role of the individual player decides collectively whether the team will win or lose. There are four main series of the game which was released in different years. These series are Counter Strike (2000), Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (2004), Counter-Strike: Source (2004) and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (2012).
