Your camera settings are automatically setup when installing ooVoo. If you have more than one camera installed on your computer, you may need to select the camera you want to use in ooVoo.
To define your camera options:
It's generally not recommended to change your settings unless you have a noticeable problem.
To set your advanced camera settings:
Click Advanced settings to set your cameras video resolution, upload and frame rates.
To adjust your video resolution:
You can set your camera to low resolution from the scroll-down menu if you are having problems sending your video (for example, if you have a weak computer or slow Internet line).
You can move the ‘Upload’ slider right-ward to increase the amount of bandwidth you want to use for sending your video. This will enable you to send your video in a better quality.
Notes:
Your internet line has a designated amount of bandwidth for uploading data and another amount for downloading data. Increasing the amount of bandwidth for the upload will not affect data being downloaded. However, if you need this upload bandwidth, such as for sending large emails or uploading files during the video conversation, less bandwidth will be available for these tasks. It's generally not recommended to change your upload bandwidth unless you have a noticeable problem with the quality of the video received on your friend’s computers. You can always click Restore to return the default settings.
You can easily select the frame rate using the scroll-down arrow. This affects the rate your computer’s CPU will process your video for sending. Before selecting a higher frame rate, you should verify that your camera supports a higher frame rate (for example, some webcams support 15 frames per second). A higher frame rate will increase your video quality assuming your computer’s CPU is strong enough to process the video. Lower frame rates are better for older computers.
Notes:
Increasing the frame rate may affect the speed in which other tasks are performed on your computer during the video conversation. It's generally not recommended to change your frame rate unless you have a noticeable problem with the quality of your video received on your friend’s computers. You can always click Restore to return the default settings.
