Horrific Fact: Halloween Now #1 Favorite Holiday Among Millennials
New Survey Conducted by ooVoo Reveals that Santa is Running scared and Cupid is Walking Dead
NEW YORK - Oct. 14, 2013 - A monstrous new survey by ooVoo, the largest independent social video chat provider with over 85 million registered subscribers worldwide, shows that Halloween is now the most popular holiday among 15 to 25 year olds. ooVoo asked 1,500 of their users, of which 65 percent are under the age of 25, which holiday is their all-time favorite. This is the third year that the free video chat app has conducted their annual favorite holiday survey and the very first time Halloween earned the majority of votes. In the past, Christmas has ruled supreme as king of all holidays for millennials.
Key findings of ooVoo’s 2013 holiday survey:
Valentine’s Day: 7%
“The rise in popularity of Halloween among millennials is a clear indicator that they crave casual fun in a world where they feel pressured by other popular family activities,” said Larry Lieberman, chief marketing officer of ooVoo. “Four million teens and young adults are signing in to ooVoo every day because it’s a cool place to spend time with friends and they know we like to have fun on Halloween.”
Last Halloween, ooVoo played a prank on their users by interrupting video calls with a fake incoming call from a seemingly innocent girl that morphed into a scary creature. The video earned 2.4 million views in six days in the ooVoo app and quickly went viral with over 200,000 views on YouTube.
To celebrate Halloween this year, ooVoo has introduced the “Zombie” video filter in their mobile app that will automatically allow users to appear ghoulish during video chats with their friends. The filter will be available on any iOS and Android smartphone or tablet.
